Who was Josef Probst?
Josef Probst (also Joseph Probst), born 30.05.1852 and died 16.05.1899, was a teacher and well-known local historian in the town of Germersheim. In his life's work, "History of the Town and Fortress of Germersheim" published in 1898, he for the first time recorded the development and changing fortunes of the town on the Rhine.
